It’s always, “What are you going to do to make that BIG money on the internet?”
Sell information products? Start an Amazon Niche site? Maybe…do some YouTube vlogging?
The “what” is seductive. There are a lot of “what’s” out there to choose from.
The “what” is like a long cool woman in a black dress, smiling seductively at you as she walks by…
Perfect lips, perfect hips, sets your mind reeling and then…
You have mail.
Surprise, surprise…looks like she has some competition (aka your inbox just slammed you with another bizop bro)
Well, well, aren’t you the wild stallion.
“What’s” are everywhere in this land. They multiply like those furry little creatures from the Gremlins movies. You remember them? Mogwai, I think they were called.
Anyways…you feed those damn Mogwai after midnight and ALL hell breaks loose. That’s when they turn into those hellish little ugly bastards that break everything.
Maybe that means you should stop opening email after midnight…
The point is…the “what” is common.
It get’s a lot more difficult for people with the “how.” You see…all these “what’s” come with manuals and courses and audios and step by step trainings and 2 hour webinars complete with 5k backend upsells designed to teach you the “how” to your chosen “what”…
…but at the heart of it…
…sometimes the “how” can be very hard. And when you ask them, “but how?”
No one ever tells you “very carefully, with a little luck, and eventually maybe…”
But they all probably should.
“How” is not a long cool woman in a black dress.
“How” is your gaslighting psychopathic ex who is more than happy to make you think you are doing good…
…only to slam you down with the reality of your failure and laugh in your face (aka you wasted more money on another dumb course and that shit did not work at all).
Do not despair…
There is yet hope…
The truth is you should have started this journey in a different place. Elusive as it might be…
“Why” is where you should have started this journey. Forget the what. Forget the how.
What about how we find the “why?”
Because the “why” is a golden child.
Like that 80’s movie “The Golden Child” with Eddie Murphy?
The one where a Tibetan boy, the mystical Golden Child, is kidnapped by the evil Sardo Numspa, humankind’s fate hangs in the balance?
On the other side of the world in Los Angeles, the priestess Kee Nang seeks the Chosen One, who will save the boy from death?
Eddie Murphy was the chosen one…
You remember that?
Well buckle up buttercup…you’re the chosen one now.
The “why” is you’re golden child.
The year was 2009.
‘We make great computers. They’re beautifully designed, simple to use and user-friendly. Wanna buy one?’
‘Everything we do, we believe in challenging the status quo. We believe in thinking differently. The way we challenge the status quo is by making our products beautifully designed, simple to use, and user-friendly. And we happen to make great computers. Wanna buy one?’
Apple started with “why.”
So says Simon. So agrees I.
But my question is this…
Do you have a why for trying to do what you do?
Or are you still chasing that long cool woman in a black dress?
If you are out there right now and you find yourself reaching and failing, reaching and failing…
First off, do not despair for we all reach and fail, reach and fail…
But maybe…just maybe…
YOu could get closer to success, if only you had that ever elusive “why.”
So tell me now.
I’m Kam, some people call me ZeroFatz and that’s all I got!
Literally, you can write a 10,000 word epic blog post that solved world hunger and teaches people how to make a million dollars at the same time…
…and the only comment you got was “Aksherinkah” who apparently wants to talk about…soap?
…and wordpress kind of thought that was spam so they didn’t even let her through…
…they were right.
I came up with an idea for my product. A concept if you will. In my niche, there is a company called clickfunnels which is very popular among marketers. They have a lot of brand awareness and they have a strong affiliate program which drives that awareness.
The problem with clickfunnels? It’s fairly expensive as far as monthly expense is concerned. At $99 a month, All the newbies know about them because of their great brand awareness but none of the newbies can really afford clickfunnels from a business standpoint because they have no idea what they are doing yet. If they can afford it it’s because they are spending out of pocket which is not conducive for a great business.
SO I decided I would target this “can’t afford clickfunnels” demographic who knew the power of a funnel (thanks clickfunnels) but couldn’t afford that all in one solution. I wanted to show them how to build an entire functioning sales funnel that would make them money. And I wanted to show them how to set it all up for free.
I decided I would make the product video because I can produce the videos quickly. Much quicker than writing and people perceive the video presentation as having a higher value than a special report.
I’m just wondering if your sick of being hustled yet?
See that’s all I ever hear about when I connect with people on facebook.
They are sick of having to buy all these upsells, and they hate getting lost in these giant sales funnels…
Those giant sales funnels account for over half those marketers revenue.
And the only way to get those marketers to stop upselling you and giving you garbage on the front end is by showing them that you can handle another way.
See I’ve been saying to everybody that my new product Affiliate Command 2017 is “customer-centric.”
But you know that’s really just a nice way of saying…
I’ve been reading through Jim Macks book on Offline Consulting and I am pretty blown away. When I search through Google Places in my area, I am finding auto repair shop after auto repair shop with no pictures, poor websites, no social media presence…
…it’s ridiculous. These guys can be fixed so easily. Jim’s talking about charging 47 to 97 bucks a month in his book to manage these auto repair shops social media presence and then outsourcing that.
If you sold a lot of something online then I will congratulate you sir, it’s safe to say you’ve won a battle.
And if you consistently sell things online month after month and year after year then you understand about this war that rages.
You get that it is strategy and clever thinking, bravery and courage that serve you so well, keeping the lights on and the fridge full.
And perhaps if you have been in this war for a little while then you might know a thing or two about cognitive biases…because we all have them but only the very clever use them to their advantage.
I want to talk to you about one now.
The Recency Bias is the tendency to think that trends and patterns we observe in the recent past will continue in the future.
Make no mistake it is a complete error in human reasoning…but that really doesn’t matter.
Here is what you should know.
In this world we have a tendency to think that whatever is happening now is either better or worse than what happened before. Far more of us believe that what is happening now is better than what happened in the past.
I know. Confusing right?
Let me explain with an example so that you can see what I’m talking about and why this matters.
One, let’s call him Mike, wants to write a book that is an all encompassing bible on how to build every kind of deck known to man.
He does, and the book is amazing. It is a fantastic reference and considered a “go to” resource for every DIY carpenter out there who wants to take a weekend and build a deck.
Good job Mike!
The other brother, let’s call him Hal, wants to start a blog and talk about decks. He decides that every single week he will build a different kind of deck and write about it on his blog complete with pictures and videos.
Both brothers are master carpenters and at the time the Mike’s book was released he was considered the utmost authority on the subject.
As time goes by though, his book gets older and older. IN the meantime his brother Hal keeps consistently publishing a new deck build every single week on his blog. He is dripping the content out to his readers, allowing them to share in the adventures with him.
Hal is becoming more of an authority on deck building in the eyes of the deck building community.
So what is the point?
The point is that if you have a strategy in place for consistent publishing you can take advantage of our inherent “Recency bias” and win.
How do you do that?
There are a lot of ways you can do it. You can regularly publish new products in your market. You can frequently post helpful, interesting content on facebook. You can publish youtube videos regularly or send out an interesting email once a day to your email list…
There are many ways to take advantage of this bias. What I listed above are just some of the things that I have done personally.
I can tell you that publishing consistently is the easiest way to position yourself as an authority and “recency bias” is why.
There are hundreds of cognitive biases that affect the way we humans think, feel, and react. Most of them can be used to sell more of your stuff and get people to care more about what you do.
But here’s a question for you:
Let me know in the comment section…
Kam (aka ZeroFatz)
Did you know that according to The Freelancers Union 1 in 3 Americans are freelancers right now?
In fact Forbes says that many predict by 2020 50% of the United States will be working for themselves as freelancers in some capacity.
The old concept of 9 to 5 is dying. It’s sad and scary. Why? The internet. I don’t need to tell you that. It’s as plain as the nose on your face. We can all look around and see it.
Within 5 years I believe that most of you will either be like me and work for yourself online or you will work for someone else who does.
It’s a bold statement I know. But when you know what I know and you see what I see…it doesn’t seem so crazy.
Listen, I think you should work on doing what I do…not working for someone else who learned how to do it.
What makes anyone else better than you? You’re smart, capable, hard working…there is no reason you cannot succeed at this.
Now the first thing that usually hangs people up when they start trying to make money online is picking a niche to work out of.
Well what if you didn’t have to?
What if you just skipped that step. What if you just talked about whatever you wanted? And promoted whatever you wanted while doing it?
Maybe one day you talked about make money online stuff and the next day you talked about relationships…
How cool would that be to just talk about whatever you wanted and not be pigeon holed into any one niche?
Well you will be happy to know that it’s completely possible and people are doing it everyday right now. It’s a well established model that I like to call “A to Z” because you have so much freedom with what you want to talk about and promote.
I want to give you 5 methods to doing this right here:
The beauty is the only thing those things have in common is that they are interesting and they are a list of 10.
The only rule? Just be interesting.
It’s not enough just to tell the story. You’re not CNN. People don’t follow facts as much as they follow opinions. So have a take.
You are taking on the role of the reporter with an opinion here.
The fantastic thing about this is your content is written for you, all you have to do is report it and have an opinion on it. It’s already trending. People are already interested.
Life skills are usually associated with managing and living a better quality of life. They help us to accomplish our ambitions and live to our full potential.
Any skill that is useful in your life can be considered a life skill. Tying your shoe laces, swimming, driving a car and using a computer are, for most people, useful life skills.
With life skills based method you are focusing on a common denominator like “Motivation” or “Inspiration” or “overcoming adversity.”
So as long as you create content with that in mind you can move through any niche you want to. There are life skill based stories in ALL niches. Again here you are the story teller.
Same thing with the lifetime channel. Everytime I turn around they are playing those damn sad bastard movies.
It’s like if you want to watch a movie on the Lifetime Network…you better get ready because whatever it’s about, whether a factory worker or a mountain climber…there is going to be some major depressing stuff in that movie.
The beauty of this is that you can flow through ALL the niches as long as you maintain that common denominator of “upbeat” or “happy” stories.
With all 5 of these models you can basically just pick and choose products from whatever niche you want to promote from whenever you feel like it.
So you know where you find all those crazy products and make great commission rates?
Forget about Amazon.
I’m talking about real commissions… like above 50%
I’m talking about Clickbank.
If you had some high quality reviews that were already done for you on some clickbank products and all you had to do was just plug in your affiliate link….
…that would be extremely helpful if you were applying one of the methods I showed you above.
How? Imagine this for a second:
Let’s say you did a blog post called “10 of the Weirdest woodworking projects ever made.”
Now right after those 10 weird wood working projects you say, “If you enjoyed this list of Crazy woodworking projects and woodworking looks cool to you check out my review below on Tom’s Woodworking Guide.” To get started…
Then you just cut and paste the review.
Alright with me so far?
So where do you get these DFY reviews that have been done on quality clickbank products?
Go crush it. Talk about whatever you want. Do it your way.
That’s all I got. I’ll see you in the next one.
